Interactive Radio for Justice is a project designed to encourage dialog between people in regions where the International Criminal Court (ICC) is investigating the most serious crimes (genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes) and the national and international authorities responsible for rendering justice to them. We have started our work in Ituri, DRC, where the first ICC investigation began in 2004. There are now several series’ of programs in the project, all of which are broadcast over community radio in French, Swahili and Lingala throughout the entire region of Ituri, DRC:

Interactive Radio for Justice Series’ include:

While the project strives to improve general understanding within the population on the national and international judicial systems which can serve them, Interactive Radio for Justice also has the potential to improve authorities' understanding of the issues important to the average citizen, and the problems people face in attaining justice and rebuilding their lives after war.  Hopefully, this improved mutual understanding will increase the effectiveness and impact of justice rendered in the regions where the International Criminal Court investigates.

Please visit our
Project in Ituri Page to listen to the programming and see photos from Ituri.

In January, 2008 we launched
Interactive Radio for Justice in The Central African Republic. CAR is the fourth situation under investigation by the International Criminal Court. Programming from our Pilot series in CAR, as well as photos from the public meeting we held in the capital city Bangui with ICC Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo, can be found on our CAR page. Interactive Radio for Justice is funded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and Humanity United. All IRfJ funding is administered through the Boston based NGO Insight Collaborative (www.insightcollaborative.org). Please feel free to use these broadcasts for educational and outreach non-profit activities. If you know of educational institutions or NGOs that would be interested in receiving the broadcasts via email, please let me know.
Sincerely,
