Dear Friends and Colleagues:
Interactive Radio for Justice has expanded over the past months and I’m pleased to announce our new activities and programs in Central African Republic and in the Kivus and Ituri districts of Democratic Republic of Congo.
All of our programs are available on this website, below or by using the links on the left.
IRfJ has relaunched in Central African Republic with a network of radios which allows us to produce and broadcast in six towns throughout the country. We have picked up from our 2008 pilot to launch a more comprehensive local collaboration, this time with Notre Dame Radio in Bangui and their five affiliate radios throughout CAR. Listening groups have been established in Bangui and Berberati and we will start four more groups in the coming months. IRfJ-CAR programming is produced in French and Sango.
IRfJ has launched in the Kivus district of Democratic Republic of Congo with local production partners in Goma and in Kusogho. We have conducted training for our local partners and have established listening groups in both communities, including two groups in the Goma Prison. Programs in Kivus are produced in French and Swahili.
Programming is produced in French, Swahili and Lingala. In addition to our radio partner in Bunia which broadcasts throughout Ituri, seven other radios in Ituri broadcast IRfJ programming.
IRfJ in the News: IRfJ was invited to participate in a discussion on outreach on international justice in Africa for the RFI series African Media. The program is posted on http://www.rfi.fr/actuen/pages/001/page_33.asp and also on our Press Page.
IRfJ creates reliable and interactive dialog between people targeted by ICC investigations and the responsible authorities, at both local and international levels. This dialogue, which starts with questions from citizens in these communities, fosters mutual understanding and a consciousness of rule of law and personal and public responsibility.
Thank you for your interest in IRfJ, your comments and ideas are welcome!
Sincerely,
Wanda E Hall
